Marathon Classic Distributes 538,000 to Area Children's Charities

The Marathon Classic Presented by Owens Corning & O-I donated $538,000 to 19 northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan children’s charities today as a result of this year’s annual LPGA tournament.  Hundreds of children from seven northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan counties will benefit from the contributions.  

The breakdown of charities that received contributions from the annual LPGA golf tournament is as follows:

Assistance Dogs  -  $15,000

Boy Scouts of America  -  $7,000

CASA/GAL of Hancock County  -  $8,600

Charity Ticket Program  -  $18,200

Children’s Resource Center  -  $35,000

Children’s Rights Council  -  $45,000

Findlay Enrichment Programs  -  $5,000

Findlay Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball Club  -  $30,000

Fire Relief Foundation  -  $50,500

Friendly Center  -  $45,000

Grace Community Center  -  $40,000

Hancock County Special Olympics  -  $10,000

Hancock, Hardin, Wyandot & Putnam CAC  -  $13,700

Heartbeat Pregnancy Center  -  $35,000

iTaalk Autism Foundation  -  $35,000

International Boxing Club  -  $10,000

Keeping Kids Safe, Inc.  -  $20,000

Lenawee Community Foundation  -  $15,000

Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation  -  $25,000

Ronald McDonald House of NW Ohio  -  $75,000

Total  -  $538,000

The tournament has now raised $9.2 million for 152 northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan children’s charities since its inception in 1984.

“We’re grateful to all of our sponsors for their continued support of the Marathon Classic,” stated tournament director Judd Silverman. “This year’s contribution of $538,000 takes us over the $9 million mark for what the tournament has generated for local children’s charities over the past 30 years. The tournament also announced the children’s charities that will receive contributions from the 2016 Marathon Classic. They include:  Adopt America Network, Aurora Project, Boys & Girls Club of Toledo, Camp Courageous, Children’s Museum of Findlay, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, East Toledo Family Center, Evans Scholars Foundation, Feed Lucas County Children, Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, Girls On The Run of Northwest Ohio, Jamie Farr Scholarship Fund, Kids Unlimited, Literacy Coalition of Hancock County, Providence Center, Ronald McDonald House of NW Ohio, Sara’s Garden, The Victory Center, Tiffin Community YMCA & Rec Center and Valentine Theater’s “School Days Program”.
