LPGA Off to a Great Start in 2015

The LPGA season is well under way with the first five tournaments completed. It is already shaping up to be another phenomenal year of women’s golf!  Our defending Marathon Classic Champion Lydia Ko (shown on left) took the LPGA by storm last year finishing first in the CME Race to the Globe and claiming the Rookie of the Year title. She has reinforced her number one position in the Rolex World Rankings this year by winning the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open and also winning a non LPGA event in her home country of New Zealand. In addition, she came in 2nd place at the HSBC Women’s Champions tournament in Singapore. The Singapore tournament was full of excitement especially for the final round when the top 3 ranked players in the world were all in the same group. Lydia Ko (No. 1), Inbee Park (No.2), and Stacy Lewis (No. 3) battled through the end of the weekend each trying to claim the trophy. In the end, Inbee took first while Lydia Ko and Stacy Lewis followed at second and third respectively. These three LPGA stars are sure to bring a lot of entertainment in the following months.

Other winners so far this year include 2010 Marathon Classic Champion Na Yeon Choi at the Coates Golf Championship Presented by R+L Carriers.

There have been many unique moments on the LPGA Tour and 2015 has been no exception. Do you remember Lexi Thompson's (shown on right) hole in one at the 2013 Marathon Classic? Check out her amazing shot from here at Highland Meadows Golf Club:  http://bit.ly/1r6p7hC . Lexi did it again at the HSBC Women's Champions! The LPGA will take a week break before returning to the United States March 16th for two tournaments out west. Following those two tournaments will be the first major of the season, the ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage, California. It should be another great year on the LPGA Tour. Check out www.lpga.com for information about upcoming tournaments and when you can find those tournaments on the Golf Channel. Also, please continue to check back with the Marathon Classic! We are excited for another great event this summer from July 13th-19th out at Highland Meadows Golf Club.
