This past weekend at the Coates Golf Championship in Ocala, Florida, Na Yeon Choi grabbed her 1st LPGA win since 2012. Choi, a champion here at Highland Meadows Golf Club in 2010, beat out the 2014 Marathon Classic champion Lydia Ko by one stroke. Throughout the final round, Choi and Ko both held the lead but in the end, it was Choi who hung on for the win finishing with 4-under 68 and a 16-under overall. Ko finished in a three-way tie for 2nd place at 15-under.
Ko, with her second place finish, had a personal victory when she climbed to the #1 spot in the world rankings. Ko, 17 years old, is the youngest golf professional (men and women) ever to reach this status! Lydia jumps ahead of Tiger Woods previously held the record as the youngest golfer to reach a #1 rank when he was 21 years old.
The Pure Silk- Bahamas LPGA Classic will be held February 5-8 in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
